Summer Fuzz Frames

I just can't stop playing with those colours from the Summer Fuzz mini kit (here's part one & part two)

So here are three puffy felt frames to coordinate with the elements and papers we've already released.
There's an oval, a square and a heart-shaped frame for you to download.

CU Freebies - that's us, of course, and our freebie is below.

Karen's Scraps & Graphics

Before I show you our contribution, I'd like to show you something else.

This is my son Mr Bump, looking very shocked about who-knows-what. - but the photo itself isn't very interesting.

Now, I've used the blue-ring octopus "face frame" in our Summer Solstice freebie below, and isn't he extra cute?

I just wanted to give you an idea of how you could use this and the anemone face frame in your layouts.  Hope you like the idea!

And now, on with the freebies...

Summer Solstice extras

Since there was a mix-up about the date for the Summer Solstice blog train (it was supposed to be today, but got changed to the 25th), we've decided to release these extra bits and bobs before the blog train rides instead of after.

These are the bits we made that didn't quite fit with the main parts of our contribution, but we still think they're kind of good.

There are patterned metallic buttons and a matching bookplate, and coloured glass beads.

As always, all images are 300ppi and there are two copies of each, with & without shadows.
Enjoy!

Help, please! Our header sucks!

After sitting here for well over four hours, trying to design the new header for CU Freebies, I've finally come to the conclusion again that my layout skills suck.

I never end up using the digiscrap stuff I find or make, because my efforts look... well, kind of lame (to quote my daughter).

Since Jane's now on board, the header has to go, but she's sick right now and my layout skills suck.

Seriously.

All we need is something cute that says CU Freebies & has some of our elements scattered or clustered together around it.

If there is anyone out there who is looking for a challenge, we'd really, really appreciate your help with this...

Please.

Dotty-Blue felt frames

So, I've been making more frames, and they're scalloped ones this time.

Blue is my favourite colour, and I love the look of this dotty felt fabric.
As you can see, there's three shapes (round, oval and square), and I've included shadowed copies, too.

I'm going to make some more elements with this style this week, so if you like these stay tuned...

Summer Fuzz mini kit - part two

As promised, here's the second part of our first mini kit, Summer Fuzz.

I've created some really cute cupcakes, a teapot and a cloud for you, all in puffy felt.
Plus there's six new papers to coordinate with those in the first part of the kit.

All the papers are 3600 x 3600 sized, and all files were created at 300ppi.
There's two copies of each element, one with a shadow and one without.

Summer Fuzz mini kit - part one

We were really inspired to create by the deviantArt ScrapbookHub June Challenge, and have been having a fantastic time playing with my new PSE8 & actions from Atomic Cupcake.

Here's the colours we had to play with.  Bright, huh?

We'll be putting up the second part on Friday, so make sure you call in then to pick up the rest of our Summer Fuzz mini kit.

In the first part, there's puffy felt flowers & leaves, glossy brads and papers.

All images were created at 300ppi, and the file contains 20 transparent pngs (with and without shadows) and five papers (3600 x 3600).

It's a bit of a biggie, this file, and that's why we split it like this.

Sorry about the mixup :)

Puffy Felt Flower Frames

Hi, this is Jane here, today.

From now on I'll be working with Kathy, designing freebies for you & generally having fun, so here's little about me.

I'm a stay at home mum of two lovelies (Wren, 9 & Mr Bump, 6), married for 11yrs to Mr Blogs (aka Wonderhubby).

I've had Chronic Fatigue Syndrome for over 20yrs (since I was 16), so I've had to find non-physical, non-stressful things to do with my time (no, I wasn't silly enough to think being a mum would be non-stressful).

Playing with photoshop elements is the most fun I've had on the computer in a long time!

So, on with the freebie...
Today I've created some little puffy felt frames in red, green and blue for you.

Denim Brads

I am sooooo loving using Photoshop Elements!

The best thing about it, is that some Photoshop actions will also run in PSE.

So if you see a free photoshop action that you like the look of, give it a try to see how it goes.

Like this free cu brad action by Josy Carson, for CS2 & 3.
It also runs in PSE8, and here are my results after an hour's playing around...

I've even designed a whole new look for my previews. Enjoy!

Summer Solstice Blog Train

Leaves the station on June 22!

These are the colours you'll have to work with:

Aren't they pretty?  I have a feeling I'm going to go overboard with this one...

Think of all the things that Summer evokes thoughts of;
Flowers, grass, sunshine, picnics, beach trips, swimming, sunburn (ok, not sunburn).

I'm just finishing up on my Mini Kit for the deviantArt ScrapbookHub June colour challenge (more pretty colours), which you'll get to see pretty soon.

And then I'm setting to work on this lovely theme...

Photoshop Elements is on it's way to my house!

I've finally saved up enough to buy PSE8 & it should be arriving in the post sometime next week.

I can't wait!

Up until now, I've been using a free program, paint.NET, which does quite a lot.
For anyone starting out digiscrapping, it's a great tool to learn with.
It has layers (you can make them transparent for overlays), a magic wand selection tool, lasso's, etc.

But I've been drooling over PSE for simply ages...

So of course I had to go and buy some gorgeous actions to play with (I've played with the trial version of PSE already & need more toys).

I bought five actions from Atomic Cupcake, because they were really good, and also if you buy 4, you get 1 free... and  I'm a tight bee. ;)

I figured the five actions I'd most use would be puffy felt, stitching, heavy crumpler (for paper), chipboard and of course everyone needs a paper tearing action.

I lingered over the scallop actions, but am going to make do for now with my own hand-drawn scalloped edges.  - Twenty dollars was enough of my hard-earned paypal account to splurge right now.

If you want to try out the quality, Atomic Cupcake has a different freebie action to download each month, and for June it's a pencil sketch edge action.

Hopefully, we'll see a *huge* improvement in the quality of my creations from now on.

- I'm sure you'll see more of them, at any rate, as I spend 18hrs a day playing with my new toys!

DSO June Challenge - Papers

I'm taking part in the DSO design challenge for the first time ever, and have created some papers to match three of the swatch colours.

They're not really my type of colours (I hate peach), but you have to start somewhere, don't you?

In fact, this is my first time taking part in any design challenge, so I hope I'm doing it right...

Includes 9 papers in peach, taupe and teal.

Thank you to Patrick Hoesly, dog ma and anthonyesau for the use of their textures.
